About me
Helping you move better, feel stronger, and achieve your goals
I believe fitness is about much more than just looking good—it’s about moving well, feeling strong, and doing the things you love with confidence. My training approach is practical, no-nonsense and tailored to your goals.
As a certified personal trainer over the past 16 years, I’ve worked with everyone from gym newbies to elite athletes. For me personally, what matters is not where you are starting from, but how committed you are to seeing progress—engaged clients are the ones I most enjoy working with.
In training, I often emphasize the concept of “healthspan”—how aspects of fitness, such as building muscle mass, can extend your years of good health. And while “functional fitness” has become an overused term, there is still value in training specifically for an activity you love—fitness is really about feeling capable and confident in everyday life. That’s why I’m committed to helping people learn to enjoy fitness and become the best version of themselves.
Some activities that I love? Beach walks with my wife, Doris, and our exuberant and goofy dog, Topaz. Learning to fence, a sport that challenges my mental agility and is helping me get fitter. I’m also a hockey fan and a focused cook, with a weakness for guilty-pleasure TV (police procedurals, cheesy Christmas movies and any show where vets save animals).
I hope that you’re ready to get started. Let’s talk about your fitness objectives and build a plan that works for you.

Healthspan: the number of years a person lives in good health, free from chronic disease and significant disability. It’s also the difference between just living longer and living well.
I have been in a group training class with Lisa as my trainer for five years. Lisa keeps it fun and before my shoulder surgery, I was in the best shape of my adult life.
I always feel good about myself when I leave the gym with Lisa. I can’t say enough about her kind and caring personality. Going to the gym with her and the rest of our group is something I look forward to every week.

I have been attending Lisa’s personal training classes for 4 years now. Every class is fresh and challenging. She brings out the best in everyone. Total body conditioning.
My overall strength and muscle tone is something I am very proud of and have her to thank. I am in my 60s and feel stronger than I have in decades. Weightlifting is wonderful and not scary.
I am so glad to be doing this for my personal wellbeing and longevity.”

What fencing taught me about my own fitness

I recently returned to fencing, a sport I dabbled in years ago. It’s fast, demanding, and strategic—a workout for both body and mind. I love its history and elegance, too.
As the oldest fencer in the club, I expected younger members to have an edge. But losing bout after bout—especially as a fitness professional—was discouraging. So I did what I’d ask a client to do: I got a full fitness assessment from a trusted pro to identify my strengths and weaknesses, and learn how to train smarter.
The results surprised me. My hip abductors and adductors were strong, but my glutes—key for fencing’s lunge movements—were weaker than I realized. I adjusted my training, focused on rebalancing my strength, and worked on reaction time. No quick fixes, just consistent effort. Now, I’m holding my own—and even winning—against much younger fencers.
The takeaway? Fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all, and everyone can learn and develop. Even if you feel strong, reassessing your approach can really help achieve the goals that matter to you. En garde!
